Fans flood Portage and Main to celebrate Winnipeg Jets playoff clinch

WINNIPEG — For the first time since the NHL returned to Winnipeg, the Jets are going to the playoffs.

The Winnipeg Jets took on the Colorado Avalanche in Denver Thursday night and after an intense, scoreless game lost to the Avalanche in a shootout.

However, the Calgary Flames’ 3-1 win over Los Angeles means the Kings can no longer overtake the Jets for the wildcard spot in the playoffs.

The Flames win was celebrated by the many loyal fans packed into The Pint in downtown Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Jets fans also took to Portage Avenue and Main Street for the long-awaited celebrations.
