Teenage girl killed in Spruce Meadows Trail crash

CALGARY – Calgary police have released the identity of a 17-year-old girl killed in a collision in the city’s southwest on Sunday evening.

The crash happened in the intersection of 37th Street S.W. and Spruce Meadows Trail S.W. around 9 p.m.

Police say Rachelle Goudy was travelling southbound on 37th Street in a Pontiac G6 and had stopped at a stop sign at Spruce Meadows Trail before continuing through the intersection. While in the intersection, her vehicle was struck by a Dodge Ram travelling westbound on Spruce Meadows Trail.

Goudy was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 18-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Goudy was the mother of a five-month-old daughter named Nora.

The 49-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to hospital as a precaution and has since been released.

Police say speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.
