Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings Sunday in southern Saskatchewan. Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 centimetres can be expected.

An area of moderate to heavy snow continues over the Cypress Hills region early Sunday morning and will continue for the next few hours before tapering off midday.

Cypress Hills Provincial Park has reported 27 centimetres of new snow as of 5 a.m. Amounts up to 30 centimetres are possible over the park and five to 10 centimetres close to the U.S. border.

In general, about 10 to 20 cm of snow can be expected over the Cypress Hills area eastward to Shaunavon and Pontiex.

The heaviest snowfall is expected to stall south of Maple Creek and the TransCanada highway with two centimeters or less. Caution is advised if people are travelling Sunday, especially along highways 13 and 21.

Environment Canada says a frontal boundary in Montana is also generating heavy snowfall in the Assiniboia-Coronach-Rockglen region Sunday. This band of snow is narrow, with the heaviest accumulations toward the Montana border.

The agency is asking drivers to be prepared as highways and roads may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may also be suddenly reduced at times.
