Lake Louise is drained for painting
THE JOKE: Officials drained Lake Louise to paint the bottom of the lake. Visitors often remark that the bright turquoise waters seem too good to be true – and they’re right! The colour actually comes from a special coat of paint that is applied to the bottom of the lake once every 100 years.
THE TRUTH: The beautiful glacial lake is emerald in colour from rock flour carried into the lake by glacier water.
Calgary Transit introduces shocking seats for naughty riders
THE JOKE: Calgary Transit is taking their etiquette campaign one step further with the introduction of the Jump Out Like That (JOLT) program, which gives riders who don’t vacate courtesy seating an electric shock.
THE TRUTH: Calgary Transit is not introducing seats that shock naughty riders, but hopes their prank will bring awareness to the proper etiquette which should be followed while on buses or CTrains.

SAIT Walk-a-Bot program
THE JOKE: SAIT Polytechnic is helping students safely navigate campus without looking up from their cell phones with six rentable robots. The bots can be used as a standing platform to carry students from class to class, and use GPS to navigate their way across campus.

Original Joe’s announces 30 day billing period
THE JOKE: Original Joe’s Restaurant and Bar will be offering patrons who spend over $10 the opportunity to take up to 30 days to pay their bill.
THE TRUTH: You’ve got to pay right away! If you try to exit an Original Joe’s location without paying your tab first, it will be classified as a dine and dash.
