MELVILLE, Sask. – One person was killed and another injured after an ATV crashed in Saskatchewan. Mounties say the ATV crashed into a van on Highway 10 south of the Melville bypass Saturday evening.
Police say the ATV was travelling northbound on the highway when it crossed the centre line and collided with the southbound van. Investigators say a dead deer was lying on the shoulder of the highway, which they believe to be a factor in the crash.
The 25-year-old driver of the ATV was pronounced dead at a Regina hospital. The name of the Melville woman has not been released.
A 33-year-old passenger from Ituna was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Police say neither woman were wearing helmets or using seatbelts.
