Drake featured in Heritage Minute mash-up

TORONTO – Canadian rap star Drake‘s autobiographical song “Started from the Bottom” is featured in a new Heritage Minutes mash-up.

Historica Canada teamed up with Thought Café to produce a compilation of clips from Heritage Minute videos set to a few lines from Drake’s hit.

“We thought about releasing it in April,” reads a blog post on Historica Canada’s website, “but when the mix-tape is this hot, you have to drop it fast. If you’re reading this, it’s too late, so grab the AUX cable and get the fire extinguisher ready.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Historica Canada points out that the organization receives “a constant stream of suggestions” for using contemporary figures in new Heritage Minute videos but, that’s “not our focus.”

That’s what the unaffiliated OVO Heritage Moments Twitter account is for — an account that features Vine clips of Drake’s career as “part of our heritage.”

“We started from the bottom and now the people will know we were here.”
