TORONTO — The comedy series Transparent is a hit in Canada only days after premiering exclusively on shomi.

The video streaming service (partly owned by Global News parent company Shaw Media) said this week that Transparent is its most-watched series.

At the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month, the Amazon series starring Jeffrey Tambor as a man transitioning to female was named best TV comedy.

Tambor, 70, was named best actor in a TV comedy.

Transparent also won a Dorian Award this month as TV Comedy of the Year. Creator Jill Soloway was named TV Director of the Year.

The show has three nominations for the Writers Guild of America Awards on Feb. 14.
