SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) has put Jason Grieve, the head coach of the Huskies woman’s volleyball team, on administrative leave effective immediately. Few details are being released at this time.

The university released a statement Friday afternoon detailing that concerns had been raised about Grieve. At a press conference Friday, Huskies Athletics director Basil Hughton stated they first received a complaint via email in December 2014.

Hughton didn’t describe the details of the complaint or whether or not it was a member of the women’s volleyball team that submitted the email. When asked if it alleged misconduct involved one or more players of the women’s volleyball team, Hughton was not able to provide specifics.

“Very unclear to us, we don’t know, it’s an investigation that’s ongoing,” said Hughton.

The U of S has launched an investigation and will not reveal any details as to what the misconduct was, sighting that the issue is between the employee and employer and those matters are private.

In the meantime, the Huskies assistant coaches will take on head coaching duties.

The team plays the University of Manitoba Bisons at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Physical Activity Complex (PAC) in Saskatoon.
