PENTICTON – There was a rally of family and friends of a murder victim outside the Penticton court house Thursday morning, as the two people charged in connection with the slaying of Roxanne Lynn Louie made a brief court appearance.
Grace Elinor Robotti, 65, is charged with second degree murder. Her brother, Pier Louis Robotti, 61, is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and performing an indignity to a body.
Louie, a 26 year-old-single mother, was reported missing two days after she failed to show up for a January 4th flight home to Vancouver from Penticton with her three year old son.
They were spending the night with Grace Robotti, a family member, prior to the planned flight. Louie’s father says Robotti claimed Louie had left the house at 1:00 a.m. to meet a friend and didn’t return.
Global News has learned the Robottis voluntarily and unexpectedly appeared at the Penticton RCMP detachment Sunday morning where they were arrested. Louie’s body was found Monday in the woods east of Naramata. RCMP won’t say how she was killed.
The people at the rally said they wanted justice for Roxanne Louie and were critical of how RCMP handled the investigation into her disappearance.
Laurie Wilson, a spokesperson for Louie’s family, said the victim’s smile was her trademark and what everyone loved about her.
“She (Louie) had a car and an apartment, she was doing well for herself. In my mind, knowing her, she was at the point in her life where she was saying ‘I can really make my dreams come true, I can do this.’ And it’s really a tragedy that she didn’t get to follow that through,” says Wilson.
The Robotti’s court case was adjourned to January 28th when they will appear by video link. They are being held in custody pending a possible bail application.
