Homicide detectives investigate suspicious death in Rosedale alley

CALGARY – Homicide detectives are investigating a death in the community of Rosedale.

Police were called to the 1400 block of 8th Street N.W. around 3 a.m. on Friday for reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, officers discovered a man in his 20’s dead in an alley.

Police say the death is being treated as suspicious and is not believed to be a random incident.

Investigators cordoned off two homes along 14th Avenue N.W. as they investigated.

Neighbours say one of the homes has been vacant while the owners renovate.

The victim’s identity won’t be released until an autopsy is complete on Monday.

If police determine this death is a homicide, it would be the second in Calgary in 2015.

The incident is not believed to be linked to a fatal shooting at a New Year’s house party in Killarney.
