Battle of the latitudes: Trailblazers tell Raptors ‘We The North Too’

TORONTO – The Portland Trailblazers want Toronto Raptors fans to know they are equally deserving of the “We The North” title too.

While Toronto is located at 43.7 degrees north, Portland is geographically at 45.5 degrees — several latitude points higher as indicated in a tweet posted prior to Tuesday night’s game between the two teams.

During the game, Portland took the Raptors’ #WeTheNorth rally cry and twisted it with one of the their own — #WeTheNorthToo.

#WeTheNorthWest was also trending Tuesday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, who are located at 45 degrees north, also joined the Twitter war with a tweet of their own.

The Raptors unveiled their “We The North” campaign during the playoffs last year which quickly caught on as a marketing tool for the team and its fans.

The basketball team has witnessed a resurgence the past few years on and off the court.

The Raptors are currently the best teams in the NBA with a 24-8 record and recently announced it has sold out of season tickets this year.

However the Trailblazers got the last word beating the Raptors 102-97 in OT to remain the team with the most victories in the NBA at 26.

Toronto is close behind with the third most wins.
