Bomb threat at Salmon Arm school false alarm

UPDATE: Students will be back in class Thursday, after police gave the all clear saying there was no bomb found.

“The school district would like to thank  the RCMP for their quick, professional help; as well as thanks to school staff and the parents,” says Alice Hucul with SD 83.

SALMON ARM, B.C. – Roughly 600 students from Shuswap Middle School have been evacuated after a bomb threat Wednesday morning. Police responded after an apparent note outlining the threat was found inside a school washroom.

RCMP are on scene and have called in a K-9 unit from Kelowna to investigate.

School District 83 officials say the evacuation went smoothly and everyone is safe.

Parents are being asked to pick up their children, but in the meantime students have been transferred to South Broadview Elementary.
