CALGARY- The City of Calgary launched its Snow Angels campaign on Thursday, a volunteer-driven program aimed at getting Calgarians to help elderly people or those with mobility issues to keep their walks and driveways clear of snow.
The Snow Angels program is now in its 11th year. The campaign recognizes those who shovel snow for those who need it by declaring them Snow Angels. Citizens “adopt” a sidewalk for the season.
Some folks help a whole block,” said Chris Thomson-Hunter, the coordinator for the Snow Angels program. “Those folks living in homes where they struggle to clear the snow and ice are being kept safe.”
Calgarians can nominate fellow citizens for a Snow Angel designation by calling 311 and telling the city their story.
