KELOWNA — Kelowna Rockets forward Kris Schmidli will represent his home country over the Christmas break. Schmidli has made the cut for Switzerland’s 2015 World Junior team.
“It’s always a special feeling to represent your country,” says Schmidli. “To be able to wear the Switzerland jersey…it makes me feel really good.”
Schmidli was drafted 59th overall by the Rockets in the 2013 CHL import draft. He finished his first season with the club with 35 points (nine goals, 26 assists), and in 25 games this season, has tallied 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points and a plus-10 rating.
The left-winger will meet his World Junior teammates in Toronto in December and will play in a pair of exhibition games before the tournament begins.
