Man charged with murder of missing Dartmouth woman Catie Miller

HALIFAX – Halifax police charged a man on Monday morning with murder in relation to the disappearance of Catie Miller.

Police said 29-year-old Jason James Johnson was arrested Saturday night. After an interview, he was charged with first-degree murder and indecently interfering with a dead body.

Although Miller’s body has not been found, police said investigators were still searching and remain “confident” they will find her remains. She was last seen in Dartmouth on July 15 and police said they believe that’s the day she died.

Police also confirmed that Johnson and Miller were in a relationship.

Miller’s family and friends have held several vigils and searches for her since she was reported missing.

Johnson appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Monday morning where a judge ordered he be held in custody until his next court appearance on Feb. 3, 2015.

Halifax Regional Police are still investigating the case, and ask anyone with information to come forward.
