KELOWNA, B.C. — The victim in a murder on a Kelowna bus Thursday evening has been identified as 55-year-old Caesar Rosales.
Global News has learned the man, originally from the Philippines, was an employee at Kelowna Flightcraft.
Kelowna Flightcraft staff and management say they were “stunned, shocked and heartbroken to learn a valued employee, colleague, and friend was lost to an unspeakable act of violence.”
Rosales was a computer specialist who had been in Canada since 2002 and had moved to Kelowna two years ago as a Business Systems Analyst according to Kelowna Flightcraft.
“As a person, Caesar was intelligent, gentle, caring, and passionate. He took the opportunity to live life to the fullest – skydiving, bungy jumping, zip lining, hiking, and walking the CN Tower – all in the last few years. He loved to film and share his adventures,” say staff at Kelowna Flightcraft.
He has a YouTube channel, on which he has posted videos of outdoor adventures and daredevil sports.
The accused, 23-year-old Tyler Jack Newton, has been charged with second-degree murder and appeared in court Monday morning.
Police say they don’t believe Newton and Rosales knew each other.
The attack happened aboard a University 8 bus.
Rosales was stabbed in the neck and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
