KELOWNA – A man has been arrested following an emergency situation at Kelowna International Airport Saturday afternoon.
Kelowna airport spokeswoman Jenelle Hynes says a man phoned the airport with a threat specifically directed toward a WestJet flight destined for Calgary.
The plane, which had arrived from Edmonton at around 1 p.m., was redirected to the far end of the runway.
Luggage was removed from the plane for re-examination, while passengers were kept on board for some time. They eventually deplaned and were taken to the terminal for secondary screening.
Airport officials said via Twitter that airport operations are back to normal.
