MONTREAL – Six people were forced to evacuated their homes after a fire erupted in their three-storey apartment building just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

The blaze started on the first floor before moving up, spreading to the entire building located at 7565 Marquette street, just a couple of blocks away from the Fabre metro station.

It took firefighters almost two hours to get the fire under control.

There were no injuries but the building is severely damaged.

Investigators are determining the cause of the blaze, but believe it may have been caused by a stove.
