Bomb threat investigated in Wetaskiwin

EDMONTON – RCMP members responded to a bomb threat at a Value Drug Mart in Wetaskiwin Thursday afternoon.

The store – located at 5215 – 50 Avenue – was evacuated and officers contained the area around the store.

The Wetaskiwin Fire Department and EMS were put on standby. RCMP K Division’s Explosive Disposal Unit offered direction in searching the business.

At about 5:45 p.m., the scene was deemed safe and employees were allowed to return.

The RCMP is now asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect or suspects.
