HALIFAX – RCMP in New Brunswick say a 22-year-old woman from Noonan, N.B. has died following a crash outside Fredericton early Sunday morning.
Police say the victim was a passenger in a vehicle, which lost control and crashed into a ditch on Route 10 in Richibucto Road at about 12:30 a.m. Officers believe the driver was trying to avoid colliding with a moose.
The victim was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. All four occupants were transported by ambulance to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, where the woman later died from her injuries.
RCMP continue to investigate the collision but said Sunday afternoon they believed alcohol was a factor in the crash.
