WATCH: The Janoskians want fans to have their cake (and eat it, too)

TORONTO — Internet sensations The Janoskians said Monday their viral hit “Real Girls Eat Cake” was inspired by an unusual question from a female follower.

“A fan tweeted me and said ‘Would you still love me if I ate cake?,'” explained Beau Brooks of the popular Australian comedy troupe. “I’m like, this is the most stupidest question I’ve ever heard.

“To us, love isn’t about outside beauty, it’s about the inner beauty. We wanted to really get that out.”

A video for the song (complete with explicit lyrics) has been viewed more than 5.6 million times since being posted in May.

The Janoskians — made up of Beau, 21, and his 19-year-old twin brothers Jai and Luke as well as pals Daniel Sahyounie, 19, and James Yammouni, 18 — appeared on Global’s The Morning Show during a tour stop in Toronto.

They’ll be in Montreal on Tuesday night and in Vancouver on Oct. 29.

The five guys starting posting prank videos on YouTube in 2011 and quickly attracted a big following. A record deal followed and, more recently, a clothing line called Dirty Pig.

Jai Brooks said he’s still taken aback by the crowds of fans — almost entirely made up of teen girls — who come out to see them.

“It’s crazy because this is the normal reaction you get if you’re a boy band,” he said. “We started off doing prank videos.”

Those videos are still an important part of The Janoskians brand.

“We have a basic idea and then we expand on that while we’re filming and try to outdo each other and get crazier and crazier,” said Jai.

Luke Brooks insisted they have limits. “We wouldn’t physically harm anyone,” he said.

Added Beau: “Usually the joke is just on ourselves. It’s never usually on the person.”
