WINNIPEG: Long-serving city councilor Russ Wyatt says he will not be returning to city hall and instead plans to seek the Liberal nomination in the Federal Riding of Elmwood-Transcona.

Wyatt made the announcement in an emailed statement, and says he believes its in the “best interests of the Transcona ward”.
Wyatt has represented the area since 2002.
The federal seat in Elmwood-Transcona is currently held by conservative MP, Lawrence Toet.
