CALGARY – Police say murder charges are pending against a teenager in connection to the death of a man on Monday.
Homicide investigators were called to a parking lot in the 6300 block of Bowness Road around 10:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a 38-year-old man in medical distress suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds.
He was rushed to the Foothills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the suspect and the victim knew of each other through a third party, and that the victim was injured during a fight.
“I did hear a little bit of the scuffle last night, but I didn’t see really anything until the fire trucks showed up,” says area resident Tamara Mowat. “I looked over my balcony… and I saw them working on the gentlemen. It was a little scary.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, at which point the cause of death will be officially determined.
Officers have a 17-year-old man in custody and say charges of second-degree murder are pending.
The suspect’s name cannot be released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
