SASKATOON – Six drivers snapped what turned out to be expensive pictures of a truck that hit an overpass Tuesday in Saskatoon.
The hydro-vac truck was travelling north on Lorne Avenue when it hit the Circle Drive overpass after the driver left the tank in the raised position.
Damage to the overpass was minimal but there was significant damage to the truck.
The area was blocked off for several hours while the scene was cleared.
Six drivers who decided to snap pictures of the crash as they drove by the scene were ticketed for using a hand held device while driving – a ticket that carries a $280 price tag along with four demerit points.
Four of those drivers were also ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt while another driver was charged for driving through a restricted area.
The driver of the truck is facing charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving without due care and attention.
