REGINA – Balfour Collegiate in Regina has decided to change their team’s name next year.
The Balfour Redmen will retire the schools nickname and decide on a new moniker this fall.
The Regina Public School Division says that teachers, parents, students and community elders will all be consulted before the school chooses a new nickname.
Balfour Collegiate opened up in Regina in 1930 and was named after Regina’s former mayor James Balfour.
Earlier this year, Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon changed their name from the ‘Redmen’ to the ‘Redhawks’.
