Boy rushed to hospital after being attacked by family dog

CALGARY- A preschool-age boy was rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon, after being attacked by a dog.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. in the community of Southview, in the 1900 block of Ash Crescent S.E.

Officials say it was the family’s own dog that attacked the boy.

“All I really saw was my neighbour was very upset, one lady had blood on her hands,” says Hillary Fraser, who lives in the area.

The boy was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital with serious bites to his upper torso, but is expected to recover.

Bylaw officers are now investigating, and seized the dog for their investigation. Two other dogs remain inside the home.
