NDP: 33.30%

Horwath kicked off the first official day of campaigning at Ground Zero for Ontario politics – the Pink Palace itself.

Riding: Etobicoke-Lakeshore (PC)

2013 bylection results:
PC: 46.1%
Liberal: 41.8%
NDP: 8.3%
Green: 0.00%

It’s a favourite spot for a lot of people living in the Etobicoke-Lakeshore region, not to mention a great place to grab a mid-morning snack. But the Dips likely don’t have a shot at this riding, which Progressive Conservative Dough Holyday won in a squeaker byelection and which the Liberals will be trying to win back.

Lunch hour calls for some gourmet grub from Cafe Pyrus, a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Kitchener. The shop welcomed Horwath. After the NDP’s success in the Kitchener-Waterloo byelection, Horwath is reaching out to small business owners and attempting to win their votes here, as well.

Riding: Niagara Falls (NDP)

2014 byelection results:
NDP: 39.44%
PC: 36.83%
Liberal: 19.39%
Green: 2.73%

Horwath finishes her day framed by picturesque falls, in a riding where her union candidate after edged out the Tories in February’s by-election. She promises to lower hydro bills (get it? Waterfall? Hydro?) and – prepare to hear this one a lot – help make life more affordable for middle class families.
