CALGARY – A memorial is starting to grow at the scene of a double homicide in the community of Penbrooke Meadows.

36-year-old Sanjula Devi and 29-year-old Fahmida Velji-Visram were killed in a stabbing spree at a home in the 6400 block of Penbrooke Drive on May 4th.

A third woman was also injured.

On Tuesday night, candles, flowers and a photograph of one of the victims could be seen sitting on the sidewalk in front of the crime scene.

The suspect remains in hospital and has not been formally charged, but is expected to face two counts of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Police have not identified the suspect, but it’s believed that he is Devi’s ex-husband, Hari Pal.

It’s alleged Devi and her friend Velji-Visram were stabbed while visiting the home to collect some of Devi’s belongs.
