CALGARY – The Calgary Flames have hired a new General Manager.

The team has been without a GM since December, when Jay Feaster was let go. Brian Burke was brought in, to serve in the interim.

On Monday morning, several media outlets began reporting that former Phoenix Coyotes GM Brad Treliving would be joining the Flames.

A few hours later, the Calgary Flames made it official during a news conference.

Treliving has been the Phoenix Coyotes’ Vice president of Hockey Operations and assistant general manager since July 2007.

He has also been serving as general manager of the Coyotes’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Portland Pirates.

The 44-year-old joined the Coyotes after working as the president of the Central Hockey League (CHL) for seven years.
