TORONTO — The cast of a touring production of The Lion King made the boarding process a little more entertaining for passengers on a Virgin Australia flight on Monday.
The performers belted out an a capella version of the Elton John and Tim Rice song “Circle of Life” while on the tarmac in Brisbane waiting to take off for Sydney.
The performance was rewarded with applause from passengers and a compliment from a flight attendant over the P.A. system.
Since being posted on YouTube on Tuesday, a video of the impromptu performance has been viewed more than 2.6 million times.
“Circle of Life” was written for the 1994 Disney movie The Lion King and earned an Oscar nomination.
The stage musical debuted in 1997 and continues to be seen on stages around the world.
