UPDATE: Parts of Alberta hit with considerable snowfall

EDMONTON – An intense warm front has brought wide spread snow to the capital region.

The snowfall warnings were expanded Wednesday morning to include Spruce Grove, Morinville, Evansburg, Mayerthorpe.

A further five to 10 centimeters of snow is expected west of Edmonton.

Global News meterologist says Edmontonians should expect another five centimeters of snow Wednesday in addition to the five centimeters that had already fallen since Tuesday evening.

Temperatures will remain steady Wednesday, at -7 degrees celsius, but with winds 15 – 20 km/h blowing snow and poor visibility will be an issue in the Capital Region, especially outside Edmonton.

Conditions are expected to improve slowly. Temperatures should climb around the freezing mark by the weekend.
