Driver caught watching TV while travelling QEII in snowstorm

CALGARY – An Alberta man is in trouble with RCMP after getting caught watching TV on his laptop while driving.

It happened Saturday night on Highway 2 near Carstairs.

Witnesses called RCMP to complain about the driver of a red Volkswagon Golf travelling southbound with his laptop open on the dash, playing an episode of Tosh.0.

Airdrie RCMP were able to locate the driver – a 28-year-old man from Edmonton.

“Unfortunately, our officers see this kind of driver behavior on [the QEII] far more often than we would like,” said Acting Sheriff Sergeant Jason Graw. “This is the third time in recent memory that our officers have caught drivers watching video while behind the wheel, and in this particular case – in the middle of a snowstorm.”

The driver was given a ticket for distracted driving and failing to produce a valid insurance card.
