3 pedestrians injured in crashes

CALGARY – Three pedestrians had to be rushed to hospital on Monday after being hit in separate morning collisions.

The first happened just after 7 a.m. in the 5200 block of 68 Avenue S.E.

A 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition after being struck by a car.

She suffered serious head injuries.

About 90 minutes later, emergency crews rushed to the intersection of 19 Avenue and 5 Street S.W. after a woman was hit while in a marked crosswalk.

EMS rushed the woman to hospital in serious but stable condition.

She suffered broken bones and a concussion.

Police say the drivers involved in both incidents remained on scene to speak with officers.

A third incident happened around 10:30 a.m., when a man in his 60’s was hit by a vehicle at 33 St. and 19 Ave. S.W. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but is listed in non life-threatening condition.
