Deputy Minister of International Trade Rob Stewart, who was formerly deputy minister of public safety, testified Monday in front of the Public Order Emergency Commission that he had raised concerns during discussions about the possible invocation of the Emergencies Act that introducing the measure could potentially lead to “serious violence.” He said if it were to “lead people to become violent than that would be an undesirable outcome.”
