Hockey Canada president questioned over silently settling sexual assault claim

President of Hockey Canada Scott Smith faced questions on Wednesday by MP John Nater over the decision to silently settle a sexual assault claim from a young woman against members of the 2018 world junior team during an event that year. Smith didn’t say who exactly made the recommendation to offer the settlement, and added that the decision was made in an in-camera meeting with no notes or formal documentation.
