Saskatchewan non-profit organization Nashi says 17 girls who fled their home north of Lviv, Ukraine, safely arrived in Poland over the weekend after spending 20 hours on a bus.

A non-profit organization that initially started helping young girls escape human trafficking, is now helping those same girls evacuate Ukraine safely, by making perogies.

In 2015, Saskatoon charity NASHI opened Maple Leaf House in Ukraine as a home for girls escaping poor living conditions, abuse and human trafficking.
