The Ministry of Highways says Highway 3 is expected to reopen on an interim alignment between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and the resort is hoping the earlier the better.

‘We did our best to assist the travellers in any way we could. We let them into the lodge to warm up, gave them food, water, blankets and fuel for vehicles if they required that.’
