In 1971, the west was included in the municipal census for the first time, boasting 68 residents, compared to 26,442 in south Lethbridge and 14,346 in north Lethbridge.

The city of Lethbridge is officially a census metropolitan area. It is the fifth-fastest growing city in the country, growing at a rate of 10.8 per cent between 2011 and 2016.

The 2016 Lethbridge census revealed that just shy of 97-thousand people call the city home. Now, city planners are preparing, and getting community feedback on a major milestone, and what residents would like to see in our city when we hit 100,000 people.
