Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada said earlier this year it's closing three research and development centres, including the one in Lacombe, plus four satellite research farms.

The federal department of agriculture has announced the closure of a research centre in Lacombe, Alta., as part of Ottawa's plan to trim the size of the public service.
