On July 6, 2013, a train carrying 72 tank cars filled with crude oil derailed and exploded, killing 47 people and destroying entire city blocks in the Quebec town.

Residents of Lac-Mégantic will mark the fourth anniversary of the train derailment that killed 47 people and destroyed much of the downtown core, with a church service, an outdoor vigil and an activity at the town's train station.
