To combat littering in an area unsafe for workers to collect the trash, Peterborough County has posted 'No Trespassing' signs on both sides of the James Gifford Causeway, on Chemong Lake.

Garbage along the James A. Gifford Causeway has been a growing concern for area residents of Bridgenorth and Ennismore. Peterborough county council is now aiming to tackle the littering as well as safety in the area.
