As wildfires threaten, residents of the Doig River First Nation territory in B.C., have been asked to fill a go-bag with essential items and be prepared to evacuate their homes.

The settlements resolve long-standing claims that the First Nations did not receive all the lands owed to them under Treaty 8, which they signed in 1899, government officials said.

TransCanada Corp. says it has reached project agreements with three more First Nations in northern British Columbia as part of efforts to build a pipeline across the province to a proposed liquefied natural gas terminal on the coast.
