Arnett hosted the inaugural Laughter is the Best Medicine gala in April 2012, which featured Jerry Seinfeld and raised $3 million.

Arnett’s father Jim is former chair of the hospital board.

“Chris Rock is an iconic comedian in a class of his own,” said Michael Geddes, co-chair of the gala, in a press release. “We’re ecstatic to be able to present our guests with such outstanding talent.”

Proceeds from the gala will help establish the Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre at TEGH.

Also using comedy to raise funds next year is Trillium Health Partners Foundation, which has booked Canadian entertainer Martin Short to headline its Laugh out Loud gala on Feb. 8 at the International Centre in Mississauga.

Gerry Dee is scheduled to host the event, which benefits the Emergency programs at three Trillium hospitals.
