Four people, including two children, are in life-threatening condition after a hit-and-run crash in Brampton Thursday evening, officials say.
Two other adults were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Peel Regional Police said the incident occurred in the Airport Road and Clark Boulevard area at around 7:23 p.m.
Officers initially said the collision involved two or three vehicles, with one vehicle failing to remain at the scene.
However, police later clarified, saying that the driver of a black pickup truck involved in the crash allegedly fled on foot — the vehicle remained at the scene. A passenger who was in that truck is in hospital and is under arrest, police said.
A Peel paramedics spokesperson told Global News a total of six people were transported to hospital.
Two children were taken to SickKids, while two adults were taken to Sunnybrook Hospital; all four had critical, life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.
Two other adults were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The spokesperson said they also assessed additional patients at the scene.
One dog was killed in the accident, the spokesperson added.
