According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it hit a tree on 120 Avenue near 87 Street around 5:30 a.m. The driver was killed in the crash, police said.

The 34-year-old passenger is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The area was closed for a few hours while police investigated the crash.

Roxanne Hooper, who has lived on the street for more than eight years, said drivers often race up and down her street.

“It was inevitable,” she said.

“They treat (the road) like it’s a race track.”
