Police are investigating a central Hamilton, Ont., shooting that sent two people to hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Hamilton police revealed just after 1: p.m. they were investigating the incident at a residence inside a mid-sized apartment complex on Sanford Avenue just north of King Street East.
Paramedics told Global News that two people, a female and male believed to be in their 30s, were transported to a trauma center in serious but stable condition.
Police spokesperson Indy Bharaj says the pair injured sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.
The occurrence put nearby Cathedral High School into hold and secure protocol for around an hour.
A 21-year-old, arrested around 6 p.m. Tuesday and identified by Hamilton police in a release, is facing 12 charges in connection with the incident.
The most serious of the offences are two counts of aggravated assault.
Police say they’re not looking for any other suspects and confirm it was a “targeted incident.”
The two injured in the shooting were no longer in hospital as of Wednesday morning.
Detectives are still seeking surveillance video from residents and businesses in the area between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the ongoing investigation.
