Man facing murder charge after woman dies of ‘serious injuries’ in west London home

A London, Ont. man has been charged with second degree murder in the death of a woman in the west end of the city.

Police say a 69-year-old London woman was reported to be unresponsive at a home on Redoak Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, the woman sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead a short time after.

A short time later, officers identified and arrested a man deemed a person of interest on Riverside Drive at around 6 p.m.

The man, identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Lee Alfred Halfyard of London, has been charged with second degree murder.

The accused appeared in court on Friday and is scheduled to appear again on May 5.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety.
