MONTREAL – Arsonists lobbed a Molotov cocktail through the window of a business on Bélanger St. early Wednesday, but the small fire was quickly extinguished, police say.

Arson investigators today will visit the site and interview possible witnesses, Montreal police Constable Anie Lemieux said.

The arson attack took place just before 4 a.m. at a cell phone retail shop at 2565 Bélanger, near Molson St., in the city’s north end.

Several businesses in the Montreal area have been hit by Molotov cocktail attacks in the last year. In the most recent incident, an arsonist threw a Molotov cocktail into Café de la Petite Italie, on St. Dominique St. in the early morning of Aug. 6. The fire caused very little damage to the café, part of a three-storey residential building at the corner of Dante St.
