Man, woman arrested after standoff at motel in Kitchener: police

Waterloo Regional Police say a several-hour standoff at a motel in Kitchener ended peacefully on Tuesday afternoon.

They initially announced on Twitter that they were in negotiations with a person who was barricaded near Victoria Street North and Forfar Avenue at around 10 a.m.

Police would later say that they found two people at the motel who were wanted on outstanding warrants with negotiations beginning at 8:50 a.m.

A few hours after the initial tweet, police announced they were in negotiations with a 26-year-old man barricaded at a motel in the area.

Shortly after, they issued a third tweet, reporting that the man had safely exited the hotel before he was placed under arrest.

They noted that a 25-year-old woman was also in the room and she had been arrested on several outstanding warrants.
