Elaine’s June 22 Update – My FINAL week of updates…and how YOU can get started on your own Healthy Lifestyle Challenge

This week marks the end of the 4 month long Healthy Lifestyle Challenge, but it will be just the beginning of a new lease on life for our 21 participants.  The results have been no less than stunning – pounds lost, inches gone, fat turned into muscle, cholesterol levels down.



And what’s even more amazing is that these lifestyle changes were simple.  There was no magic formula involved – EAT LESS, MOVE MORE.  It’s a mantra we have heard so many times before, but to see it put to practice with such amazing effects has been truly rewarding.


Here are the final stats for the group (I will post the biggest losers later in the week):


Superstore Healthy Eating Plan group
10.4% reduction in weight
9% reduction in waist circumference


GI Diet group
11.3% reduction in weight
10.1% reduction in waist


Food Diary group
9.9% reduction in weight
12.3% reduction in waist


Weight Watchers group
11.9% reduction in weight
14.4% reduction in waist


TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:  195 kg / 430 pounds
10.9% reduction


TOTAL WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE:  227 cm/ 89 inches (7.4 feet)
11.4% reduction




 


The hard part starts now…keeping up those good habits isn’t easy.  But I am confident the St. Paul’s Heart Centre dietitians and the Endorphin Junkies personal trainers have equipped our group with the tools they will need to move forward.
